Azad Government of the State of Jammu & Kashmir

Health Department

Overview

The Health Department of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) is dedicated to safeguarding and improving the health and well-being of communities across the region. From the snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas to the valleys and plains, we strive to ensure that quality healthcare services are accessible to all.

Through a comprehensive network of hospitals, clinics, and primary healthcare centers, we deliver essential medical services that address a wide range of health needs. Our efforts are driven by a committed workforce of doctors, nurses, technicians, and support staff who work with compassion, professionalism, and a strong sense of public service.

But our work extends beyond the walls of healthcare facilities. We recognize that true health is not just the absence of disease but also the presence of physical, mental, and social well-being. That’s why we actively engage with communities, promoting health education, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices through awareness campaigns, workshops, and outreach events.

In partnership with government agencies, NGOs, and local stakeholders, we strive to address the underlying determinants of health, tackling issues such as poverty, sanitation, nutrition, and access to clean water. By fostering collaboration and collective action, we aim to create environments that support health and empower individuals to lead fulfilling lives.
